Troubleshooting: ID Equipment
Included in this category are an ID card printer, a camera, a tripod, and a desktop computer which contains the ID Works software.
The front of the printer contains a card hopper:
To fill this or replace the current card, simply pull the hopper towards you. The image to the right shows the hopper after it has been removed from the printer:
Notice that the hopper must be refilled from the back. Also, be aware that the cards being used to fill the hopper must be inserted into the hopper with the blank surface 'facing up' as opposed to the magnetic strip. Once the hopper has been replenished, reattach it to the printer.
Cleaning the Printer
The printer requires cleaning after approximately fifty cards have been printed. The System will prompt you to clean the printer when this number has been reached:
In order to clean the printer, the ribbon must be removed. On the side of the printer is a hatch. Open this hatch:
To the right is an image of the printer once the hatch has been opened. Press down on the release lever, which will then spring up:
Remove the ribbon holder from the printer, simply by lifting it.
Remove the cleaning roller from the printer:
Separate the holder from the roller:
Having replaced the cleaning roller, re-insert the unit in the printer.
The system initially advised that a cleaning of the printer was required. The cleaning card has now been inserted in the printer, so now press OK:
The cleaning card will be taken into the printer and ejected automatically once the cleaning process has taken place.
After the cleaning card has been ejected, the hopper must be reattached to the printer. The ribbon holder must also be re-inserted. The printer is now ready for use.
