Important Things You Will Need to Know
Filling Paper
The fax machine is filled with 8 ½ x 11 inch paper. When the paper is low:
- Pull out the paper drawer.
- Load paper, making sure that the stack does not exceed the limit mark on the side of the cassette, or 250 sheets of paper.
- Gently press the paper down at each of the four corners of the stack.
- Close the paper drawer.
Changing Toner
- Obtain a new toner cartridge from the cabinet.
- Lift the top section of the fax machine.
- As you look into the machine, you can see the toner cartridge.
- Remove this cartridge by gently pulling it backwards and upwards.
- Remember to give the new cartridge a side-to-side shake, and remove the tab before placing the new cartridge into place and close the cover.
- Each new toner has a corresponding micro-chipped plastic card (Credit card size). Insert this card into the card reader, which is located directly below the keypad on the front of the fax machine. The display panel on the front of the fax machine will prompt you to 'Change Toner'. Select 'Yes' and press 'OK' button located by the 'Stop/Start' key. This will clear the 'Toner Near End' message.
- A spare key card will be kept in the cash register, in case there is not one attached to the new replacement toner.
Power Failure
The fax machine is left turned on at all times. In the event of a power failure, the fax will produce an activity report as soon as power is restored. It is unlikely that any information will be lost.
Paper Jams
If there is a paper jam, a red ‘%’ will be flashing on the display.
There are several areas where the paper jams may occur:
- The paper tray drawer:
- If the jam is in this area, simply pull out the drawer and remove the loose piece of paper. Sometimes the paper can be caught in behind the paper tray itself
- Behind the toner cartridge and the document feeder:
- If it is in this area, pull out the toner cartridge, lift the cover up from the document feeder, and remove the paper causing the jam.
