Accessing the Archives after Hours
A key to the Archives is kept with the other keys at the Circulation desk.
- The lights are to the right inside the door.
- Retrieve the item from the stacks.
- Note if the item is fragile on the physical condition line of the request form.
- Clip off the bottom section of the request form.
- Verify the call number on both sections of the form against the actual item.
- Leave the top section on the desk in the Archives and take the bottom section back to the Circulation desk to hold with the patron’s ID until the item is returned.
- Be sure to turn off the lights and relock the Archives door.
- Return the key to the hook at the Circulation desk.
- Give the item to the patron and ask them to handle the item with care.
- Make sure that the patron is aware that the item is for "In-Library Use Only", and must be returned to the staff at the Circulation desk, at which time their ID will be returned.
- When the item is returned, place the clipped section of the form, which has been held at the Circulation desk, in the item and place in the Archives mail basket in the back office.
