Telephone Etiquette
A large part of our work in the Library involves telephone conversations with patrons and members of the University community. We must always identify the Library when we answer the phone: "Good morning/afternoon/evening, Patrick Power Library" or an appropriate variation is required. We never answer the phone with a simple 'Hello'.
With exception of Student Assistants, everyone who works in the Library has a personal phone number. If a call comes in for a staff member, please transfer the call to the appropriate extension. A University Directory, and a Library Telephone list, is located near each phone at the public desks. If you are required to take a message, please include the following information:
- The caller's name
- The caller's telephone number
- The time called
