When you try to check-in an item and get an “Unable to find item” message, the reason could be one of two scenarios. It could be that the book is either a ‘Conversion on the Fly’ return or a BARA return.
If it is a COF item, simply place the item on the ‘Items Not Linked’ shelf at the Circulation desk. For more information on what happens to the item thereafter, see “Processing Conversion on the Fly (COF)” in the manual.
When the ‘Unable to Find Item’ message comes up, make sure to check that the book isn’t a BARA return (Halifax Public Libraries) before you place it on the ‘Items Not Linked’ shelf. If it is a book from one of those institutions, place it on the ‘BARA Returns’ shelf, after filling out the appropriate form at the desk. Refer to BARA section previously in this chapter.
