Important Notes for Assigning Status
All Undergraduate students receive the 'Undergraduate (01)' status.
Some institutions have made an agreement to give Thesis Undergraduate students an extended loan period.
Many institutions have made an agreement to give Graduate students an extended loan period.
Faculty and staff from SMU receive 'Saint Mary's Faculty (58)' and 'Saint Mary's Staff (57)' status only for SMU privileges. Faculty and staff from all other institutions get the status 'Faculty-Other (80)' and 'Staff-Other (81)' for SMU privileges.
BARA patrons get the 'OCB (52)' status.

- Status can be determined for SMU students either from the ID card (if the status has recently changed, advise the patron to get a new ID card reflecting the new status), or by looking at Banner (see 'Verifying Registration Status Through Banner' section in Chapter 8) to see whether the patron is registered in Undergraduate level courses. For patrons from other institutions, refer to the status at the home library in the Local Patron screen in ALEPH or on the ID card.
Some institutions have made an agreement to give Thesis Undergraduate students an extended loan period.
- This status can be determined for SMU students either from the status on the ID card, or by looking at Banner (see 'Accessing Banner' in Chapter 6) to see whether the patron is registered in known Thesis level courses (course numbers of 4500 and higher). For patrons from other institutions, refer to the status at her home library in the Local Patron screen or on the ID card. When signing out SMU items, these patrons are given the 'Thesis Undergraduate (02)' status if they are from the following institutions: AST, Dalhousie Killam, Dalhousie Sexton, Kings, MSVU, and SMU.
- All other Thesis Undergraduates do not get extended privileges; they are given 'Undergraduate (01)' privileges with a three week loan period.

- This status can be determind for SMU students either from the status on the ID card or by looking at Banner to see whether the patron is registered in the known Graduate level courses (5000 level or higher). For patrons from other institutions, refer to the status at her home library in the Local Patron screen or to his ID card. Graduate students from the following institutions receive the 'Novanet Graduate Students (03)' status: AST, CBU, Dalhousie Killam, Dalhousie Law, Dalhousie Sexton, Kings, MSVU, NSCAD (although they give 60 days rather than 90), and SMU.
- All others do not get extended privileges; they are given 'Grad-Other (82)' privileges with a three week loan period.
Faculty and staff from SMU receive 'Saint Mary's Faculty (58)' and 'Saint Mary's Staff (57)' status only for SMU privileges. Faculty and staff from all other institutions get the status 'Faculty-Other (80)' and 'Staff-Other (81)' for SMU privileges.
- SMU faculty and staff get the 'Other' status for items from institutions other than SMU.
BARA patrons get the 'OCB (52)' status.
