Override Date
When checking in books in the morning from the book drop, set the date to one minute before closing time on the last day the library was open.
- This is to ensure that patrons, who dropped books off before the end of the day, do not incur fines for late return.
To override the check-in date:
- Click on the ‘Override Date’ button on the right-hand side of the Check-In tab in the Aleph module (F6):
When you press it, you will be asked to set a new date and time. Enter the previous day’s date, one minute before closing, as outlined in the next screenshot, and click ‘OK’:
When the date is overridden, it will say so on the left-hand side of the Check-in node. Place the cursor in the Item field. If you do not, the date will revert back after one check-in.
Remember to press the ‘Clear Override’ button on the right when you are finished. If this is not done, check-ins for the day will have the wrong check-in date assigned to them and fines will not be assessed correctly. In addition, the items’ circulation history will be erroneous.
