The first step to checking in a book is clicking on the 'Return' tab in Aleph.
Notice that the top dialog box is not selectable. This is because, when checking in books, the patron's information is not needed.
So, with the second dialog box selected, scan the book's barcode.
Information on the patron who borrowed the book is displayed in the upper right panel, and information on the book is displayed in the lower right panel:

If the book is overdue, and the patron has accrued fines, from the book being overdue or otherwise, the total amount the patron owes is displayed in the upper-right panel.
Once the book has been Checked In in Aleph, the next step is to sensitize the book on the sensitizing machine:

Once the book has been Checked In in Aleph, the next step is to sensitize the book on the sensitizing machine:
- Make sure that the switch on the left is set to ‘Sensitize’.
- Lay the book along the slot and slide the spine to the left. You will hear a clicking noise.
- After the book is sensitized, place it on the appropriate return bookcase at the desk, in call number order.
