Departmental Cards
Some University departments require their staff to wear photo ID cards as part of the uniform. These cards look very similar to the Security cards except that the department cards are not encoded, and do not provide key access into secure areas.
Each department will email a list of staff members who require departmental ID cards to a specific staff member in Circulation. The list is kept in the green binder next to the ID equipment and is organized by department. When a patron comes to the library for a departmental ID card, call a supervisor to take the ID. Only supervisors should process these IDs.

- Look in the binder for departmental authorization. When you find the correct name, cross it off, so others will know the ID card was created.
- Take the ID in the Security card module of the ID program (see "Making a University ID" in Chapter 8).
- Print the card on the regular SMU ID cards.
- Use the ID hole punch to create a hole at the top of the card. The hole is required for the insertion of a clip that allows the staff member to attach the card to their uniform.
