Backdating Bookdrop Contents
The outside Bookdrop is emptied at closing time each evening. In the morning, it is necessary to check it again, as patrons may have returned books after Library hours.
We also receive three daily newspapers that should be retrieved from the bookdrop and given to the Reference staff each day. Place the Reference newspapers on the desk for Reference staff to pick up. There should be two copies of the Chronicle Herald, and one copy of the Globe and Mail.
If a newspaper is missing (or there are no newspapers), notify Reference Staff when they come in. They, in turn, will notify Acquisitions staff for replacement copies.
Any items that are returned after closing and before opening the next day must be backdated to the previous open day.
For example, if we are closed both Saturday and Sunday, the bookdrop items will therefore need to be backdated to the previous Friday. Follow these steps in the order given:
Remember to clear the Override Date once finished, so Circulation is working in the current day’s date for the rest of the day.
