Packaging
The designated staff member will be responsible for printing return labels, packaging items and taking them to their drop off spot. The staff member will also record the amount spent on postage and her time taken to do BARA processing.
Local Public Library items may be packaged with the label BARA Return – Halifax Public Library and placed in the Inter-University Book Truck bin at the Circulation desk.
All Non-Metro Public Libraries items can be moved to a shelf in the Document Delivery Department, to be packaged and shipped via Canada Post. This must be done within five working days, although we hope to do better. Each item should have its BARA Return Slip and a ‘Return Confirmation’ printout, so as to indicate the address to be used for shipment. This information will be needed for producing a BARA Return shipping label in the Canada Post system.
Use the Jiffy bubble envelopes, found under the Document Delivery area desk, for shipping out the BARA Return items. Make sure all previous addresses are removed, marked out or covered by the new destination’s address. Use the clear packing tape to secure the item in the proper size envelope. Do not stuff the envelope too full or have the item flopping around inside an envelope that is too big. No staples!
Once packaged and addressed, take the parcel to the back door (through the Acquisitions department) and place it in the Canada Post cloth bag, to be picked up by the SMU mailroom and mailed.
