Holds
Aleph has its Check-in settings such that when a requested item is checked in, a number of things happen automatically.
Back to Circulation Procedures
- A ‘Hold Requests for Returned Item’ box pops up, displaying the Hold information for that item.
- The ‘Hold Status’ of the item changes from ‘W’ (Waiting In Queue) to ‘S’ (On Hold).
- The ‘Hold Request Slip’ prints out from the receipt printer. Staff at the Circulation desk should place the printed Hold slip as a bookmark in the item.
- A ‘Hold Notification Letter’ is emailed to the item’s requestor. If there is no valid email, the ‘Hold Notification Letter’ will print out also (in slip form) and should be placed in the book as well. Upon retrieval, the Holds staff member will mail out the Notification letter.
- The desk staff member should place the item on the designated shelf at the Circulation desk (below the sensitizer) or place it on the Holds and Recalls staff member’s desk at the end of his desk shift.
