The Identifier would only ever be changed in certain situations. For example, if a patron is returning a DAL book, but her friend wants to borrow it:
- When you check-in the item, it goes 'In Transit' back to DAL.
- Change the Workstation Identifier by right-clicking on the key icon on the bottom right-hand corner of the Aleph module.
- A box pops up asking for the new Identifier:
- Enter the Identifier for the owning Library.
- Click OK.
- The Aleph module now works as if you were physically at the Killam Library.
Now you must check-in the item before you can sign it out to the other patron. See "Books" in the "Check-in" section of this chapter for more information.
Once the item is checked in, you can sign the book out as normal. If the patron does not have assigned status for the owning library, follow the instructions in the "Signing Out Non-SMU Items" section of the manual.
Always make sure to change the Identifier back to SMUCDESK when you are finished with the transaction.
