Residence Cards
Some students who live on campus work as staff and advisors for the Residence department. Residence staff members are required to wear a University photo ID while on duty.
The Residence department will email a list of staff members who require Residence ID cards to a specific staff member in Circulation. The list is kept in the green binder next to the ID equipment, which is organized by department. When a patron comes to the library for a Departmental ID card, call a supervisor to take the ID. Only supervisors should process these IDs.

- Look in the binder for authorization from the Residence department. When you find the correct name, cross it off, so others will know the ID card was created.
- Take the ID in the 'Residence' card module of the ID program (see the 'ID Production' section of the manual in Chapter 8).
- Select the appropriate staff position indicated on the authorization from the drop down menu (i.e. Administration, Residence Assistant, Residence Services).
- Print the card on the regular SMU ID cards.
- Use the ID hole punch to create a hole at the top of the card. The hole is required for the insertion of a clip that allows the staff member to attach the card to their uniform.
