Items in Storage at AST
In an attempt to free up space on the Library's third floor, a review was done of SMU's Periodicals holdings. Many outdated or rarely used journals were weeded from the collection and taken to AST (Atlantic School of Theology) for storage.
Books and periodicals currently stored at AST are given the process status 'In Storage' on Novanet and Aleph. Patrons can request an item in storage by filling out an 'AST Storage Request' form, pictured below and located with the other forms (System Down, Search Request, etc.) at the Circulation Desk.

The form is largely self-explanatory:

- The patron fills out the top part of the form and hands it over to you.
- Verify the information given and that the item is actually at AST storage.
- You then fill out the 'Staff Stuff'; Request Date and Taken By portions of the bottom part of the form. A staff member will fill out the other sections at AST when the item is retrieved, usually within a couple of days.
- When the form is filled out, place it in the clear pocket on the desk or give directly to the Manager of Access Services.
