Coin Box/Card Reader
The Library charges 15¢ per copy. However, a photocopy card, sold at the Circulation Desk, is also available.
- The card allows copies to be purchased at a somewhat cheaper rate of 12¢ per copy
- The card comes in three pre-encoded denominations:
- 20 copies: $3.00 + tax = $3.45
- 50 copies: $6.00 + tax = $6.90
- 110 copies: $11.00 + tax = $12.65
- A $1 refundable deposit is charged on these cards. When a patron returns the card for the refund, the deposit plus tax is returned.
- $1.00 + tax = $1.15
- For information on refunding a deposit, see “Cash Register Operation”.
- Cards are inserted in the card reader on the front of the coin box as can be seen in the image in the previous section and below.
- The amount of credits on the card will display on the coin box screen
- To remove the card, push the ‘Push to eject’ button shown below
As stated above, the machines also accept coins in the coin box. Working from right to left on the image below:
- Any Canadian coins, except pennies, can be deposited in a slot on the top of the box
- Alongside this slot is the ‘Push to eject’ button which returns any unused funds to the patron
- Next to the ‘Eject’ button is a screen that displays the amount of money inserted into the copier
- The lock allows access to the coins deposited and the change unit of the coin box
- Occasionally a copy is produced which is of poor quality. The by-pass key allows us to offer a copy to the patron at no charge
- Insert the key in the lock, make a quarter turn to activate this feature
- Copy as normal
- Turn the key to the original position and remove the key
