Recalls for Reserve Materials
There may be times when you are required to have a shorter Effective Due Date than the system generated one. For example, when recalling a book to be put on Reserve, we require the book to be returned within three days, as opposed to the 10-day system generated date. The following procedure allows you to choose the date you need the item returned.
- First, ensure the book in question is currently on loan.
- Highlight the Item node and click on the Hold Request button on the right side of the screen.
- Enter the patron’s barcode.
- Recall Type should be 01-Regular Recall.
- Verify the Only Selected Item box is checked within tab 2.
- Click 'OK'.
- The system will run the Circ-13 report overnight and the next day you will be able to see the Effective Due Date of 10 days hence.
- In the Patron tab, select the Loans node.
- To the right of the screen, click on the ‘Change Date’ button.
- Enter the three day due date in the box that pops up.
- You will immediately be able to see the new Effective Due Date when you look in the Item tab, List of Items node.
Keep in mind, that the automatically generated email to the patron will state the 10-day due date, so you will need to call or send another email to the patron explaining the three day due date and the reason.
