Reserve Readings
Reserve Readings consist of a collection of books/media that Professors have requested to be set aside for their specific courses. This collection is located at the Circulation desk on a bookcase all its own. Items are denoted with a red dot above the call number.
These time-sensitive items have reduced loan periods, to enable the material to be utilized by as many of the students in the class as possible. To this end, an item may have any one of the following loan periods: 1 Hour, 2 Hour, 4 Hour, 24 Hour, and 3-Day loans.
There is a binder at the Circulation desk (marked 'Reserve Readings') that has a page for every course that has a Reserve Reading, including the professor that teaches the course. Under each course heading, there is a list of all the material the professor has requested to be put on reserve for that course.
If the course/item is not listed in the binder, there is no Reserve Reading on the shelf.
Once the patron has located in the binder the item required, use the call number to locate and retrieve the book from the Reserve Reading bookcase. All the books will be arranged in call number order. Some will have regular call numbers and others will have a 'Prof Copy' call number that the Reserve Reading staff member created.
Reserve Reading books are checked-out in the same manner as other General Loan material.
